By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize (PLB) 2024-2025 Closing Championship continues with much anticipation as Week 4 approaches. Fans are gearing up for an action-packed weekend of football, with matches that promise intense competition and potential shake-ups in the standings.
The main attraction this weekend is the top-of-the-table clash between Verdes FC and Port Layola FC. The encounter, which pits the current leaders Verdes FC (nine points) against the second-placed Port Layola FC (six points), is set for 7:30 pm on Saturday, February 8, at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen. Verdes will look to maintain their lead, while Port Layola aim to close the gap and potentially take the top spot.
“Verdes fans, it’s time to turn up the energy! Dress in green, bring your horns, and let’s electrify the stadium!,” Verdes said on Instagram as part of their campaign to mobilize their fans against the PLB back-to-back champions.
Other matches this weekend include San Pedro Pirates hosting Progresso FC at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro, and Belmopan Bandits facing Wagiya SC at Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan. Both matches are scheduled for 7:30 pm on Saturday as well.
