By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City maintenance worker has been fined after pleading guilty to possession of a crack pipe.
Esvin Orlando, 41, a resident of Southern Foreshore, appeared before the court on Monday, where he was read a single charge of possession of a pipe. Allegations are that on Sunday, February 2, 2025, police found him on East Canal with a 7-centimeter metal pipe designed for smoking crack cocaine.
Orlando wasted no time in admitting guilt and pleaded for leniency. As a first-time offender, he was spared jail time and instead fined $200 plus a $5 court fee. He has until March 14, 2025, to pay or face two months in prison.
According to police reports, officers on patrol spotted Orlando sitting under a wooden structure and saw him toss an object to the ground upon their approach. When retrieved, the item was identified as a crack pipe, leading to his immediate arrest.
With his guilty plea, Orlando now has a debt of $205 to the court and must settle it within the deadline to avoid jail time.
