By Horace Palacio: Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that took place in Cotton Tree Village, Cayo District, on Friday, January 31, 2025, claiming the life of 30-year-old Seferino Maas Pop.
Police responded to a gunfire report at 7:36 p.m. and, upon arrival, found Pop’s lifeless body on his veranda, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was later transported to the Western Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Pop and his wife were relaxing on the veranda when an unknown individual called out to him. As Pop responded, the gunman opened fire, striking him multiple times before fleeing the scene. His wife, though shaken, managed to escape unharmed.
Authorities have not yet identified any suspects or established a motive for the killing. The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
