Healthy eating? Prices of fruits soar in December

By Zoila Palma: Data from the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) noted that for December 2024, Belize recorded increases in the price of fruits including pineapples that went from $1.13 to $1.25 per pound.

In addition, the price of lime was hiked from $0.44 for one to $0.56.

The prices of orange went from 26 cent for one to 29 cents.

Watermelon, grapefruits, grapes and soursop also recorded significant increase in prices.

Overall, the inflation rate for ‘Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages’ was 5 percent.
