Cycling Federation of Belize unveils 2025 Calendar of Events

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) has announced its highly anticipated calendar of events for 2025, promising a thrilling year for cyclists across the country. The schedule is packed with a variety of races and events that cater to cyclists of all ages and skill levels.

The year kicked off with the KREM New Year’s Day Classic on January 1st. This event set the tone for an action-packed year, with highlights including the 24th Annual Junior Cross Country Classic on April 6th and the 95th Annual Holy Saturday Cross Country Classic on April 19th, which is a major event for elite cyclists.

February features the three-stage Annual Valentine Tour, including a prologue on St. Thomas Street Circuit and road races from Belize City to Orange Walk and back. The 3rd Annual Alfred Parks Memorial ‘Ketch di BUL Fi Mi’ Race is also set for February.

March brings the Ride to the Reef with Oceana, the 44th Annual Westrac Belmopan Cycling Classic, the Milo 100 Anniversary City Ride Celebration, and the Rumble in the Tropics.

April is a busy month with the PUMA Annual Women Cross Country Classic and the PanAmerican Road Cycling Championships in Uruguay, where Belizean cyclists will compete on an international stage. The Bike to Work event in May encourages cycling as an eco-friendly mode of transportation. May also features the three-day Tour de Santino and the Cuarta Vuelta Bantrab in Guatemala.

June is packed with events such as Riding for Men’s Health, the Father’s Day Cycling Extravaganza, the National Individual Time Trial Championship, and the National Road Championship.

The summer months feature the CFB Youth Summer Cycling Program in July and the Bernice Wade Memorial Classic in August, along with the Cycling for All – Hopkins Century Ride.

September includes the Miguel’s Brothers Cycling Race, the BTB September Criterium, and the 2025 UCI World Championships. The year concludes with the Pre-New Year’s Day Classic on December 21st, ensuring that the excitement continues right up to the end of the year.

In a significant announcement, the CFB revealed on Wednesday that Belize will host the 2025 Caribbean Elite & U23 Road Cycling Championships. This prestigious event is scheduled to take place from October 9 to October 13, 2025, and will bring together top cyclists from across the Caribbean. October also features the XII Central American Games, and November includes the Barbara Cleland Race.

The CFB also announced that they will have representation in several international events, including the Pan Am Masters in March, the Jamaica International Cycling Tour in April, the Joe Martin Stage Race in May, the Gran Premio New York City in May, the Maryland Cycling Classic in September, and the Central American Road Championships, which are qualifiers for the Pan American Games.
