By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: A South Florida woman marked a remarkable milestone, celebrating her 108th birthday on Monday.
Nesta Leelo, a Tamarac resident originally from Jamaica, reached the impressive age at a special celebration held at the Jamaican Consulate.
Living with one of her daughters in Kings Point, Nesta has recently started using a walker, but remains incredibly active and independent, WSVN reports.
“I had a wonderful life, I had wonderful parents, could not ask for more,” she said, reflecting on her long life.
Nesta still enjoys several activities, including hemming her own pants and playing the piano, and continues to do most things for herself.
At 108, she is just six years shy of being the oldest living person in the United States.
