By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the he National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) received a generous donation of USD$100,000 from Taiwan.

The donation was made possible through a collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Foreign Trade and the Embassy of Taiwan.

The funds have been allocated to the Belize Livestock Producers’ Association (BLPA).

Following the destructions caused by Tropical Storm Sara, farmers in the Belize River Valley and Cotton Tree area faced substantial losses in feed, livestock, pastures, and overall livelihoods.

“This donation aims not only to help them recover what was lost but also to enhance the resilience and self-sufficiency of cattle farmers against future disasters. This initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening the nation’s disaster preparedness and resilience,” the Government of Belize noted.
