By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize (PLB) Champions are gearing up for the 2024-2025 Closing Championship with official training set to commence on Monday, January 6, at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City. This marks the beginning of an intense preparation period for the team as they gear up to defend their title and vie for the prestigious national championship.
The PLB Champions, Port Loyola FC, have been dominant in recent seasons, winning both the 2023-24 Closing Championship and 2024-25 Opening Championship. With a strong lineup and their history of recent success, they are determined to continue their winning streak and secure another title.
After winning the last two PLB championships, Port Layola are aiming at winning the Closing Season to gain the right to represent Belize in Concacaf’s Central American Cup. Having competed in that regional tournament for the first time last year, their ambition to do it again has been piqued.
The training sessions will focus on honing the team’s skills, improving their fitness levels, and strategizing for the upcoming matches. The coaches and players are committed to giving their best performance and ensuring that they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
