By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Mexico’s National Institute of Immigration (INM) is reportedly involved in a scheme to help migrants illegally cross into the United States, according to Albert Rivera, head of the Agape Shelter in Tijuana.

Rivera claims that migrants are paying taxi drivers up to $500 to transport them to the U.S. border, where INM agents are waiting to facilitate their entry.

Since last year, INM agents and Mexico’s National Guard have been stationed south of the border to prevent migrants from reaching the U.S.

Rivera suggests that the agents may be receiving kickbacks from the taxi drivers involved, Border report said.

He has called on Mexico’s federal government to investigate, emphasizing that the issue likely involves a few corrupt individuals, rather than the entire INM.

Rivera also shared an incident with El Sol Newspaper where six deported families used taxis to connect with INM agents who directed them on where to cross into the U.S.

INM has not commented on the allegations.
