By Horace Palacio: Moist and relatively unstable conditions persist over Belize today, bringing mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms, and periods of rain. The Belize Meteorological Service forecasts that these weather events will primarily affect northern and southern districts during the day, shifting along the coast tonight.
Marine conditions remain somewhat challenging, with northeast winds blowing at 10-20 knots. The sea state is expected to be choppy to moderate, with waves ranging from 3 to 6 feet. Mariners are advised to exercise caution, particularly in exposed areas.
Temperatures will be cooler than usual. Coastal regions will see daytime highs of 82°F (28°C) and lows of 72°F (22°C). Inland areas will peak at 83°F (28°C) during the day and cool to 68°F (20°C) overnight. In the hilly regions, temperatures will range from a daytime high of 78°F (26°C) to a nighttime low of 63°F (17°C).
Looking ahead, Friday is expected to remain mostly cloudy, with a few showers, periods of rain, and isolated thunderstorms occurring across the country. Rainfall activity is forecast to gradually decrease by Friday night, lingering primarily over southern areas into the weekend.
The tidal schedule today includes a low tide at 6:12 AM, a high tide at 12:19 PM, another low tide at 5:22 PM, and a high tide at 11:34 PM. Sunrise was at 6:23 AM, and sunset is set for 5:30 PM. The moon will rise at 8:46 AM and will set at 8:21 PM tonight.
Forecaster Crystal Rosalez advises residents to stay prepared for wet conditions, particularly those in northern and southern regions during the day and along the coast tonight. Travelers and outdoor enthusiasts should remain cautious, as scattered thunderstorms could impact plans.
