By Rubén Morales Iglesias: 2023 and 2024 winner Kaya Cattouse and the other women cyclists who will compete in the Open Women’s category are gearing up for the 34th Annual KREM New Year’s Day Cycling Classic, set to take place on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Organized by KREM Radio in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) under the regulations of the International Cycling Union (UCI), the race will bring together top female cyclists in an exciting competition.

The Open Women’s race will start at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Town Hall in Orange Walk Town. Cyclists will navigate a 54-mile route along the Philip Goldson Highway, culminating in Belize City in front of Super Store on Central American Blvd. This race is expected to be fiercely competitive as riders push their limits to claim victory.

In 2024, LA Sweat’s Kaya Cattouse won her fifth KREM New Year’s Day Cycling Classic, finishing ahead of American Mary Joyce Monton of the Austin Outlaws and G-Flow’s Gabrielle Gabourel. Cattouse’s victory in 2024 added to her impressive record, with previous wins in 2012, 2016, 2019, 2023, and 2024.

The 2025 race promises to be another thrilling chapter in the history of the KREM New Year’s Day Cycling Classic, as female cyclists compete for the top spot and strive to make their mark in the cycling community.
