By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Ladyville entrepreneur, 31-year-old Tiffara Blanca Nee Tillett, has been fined after pleading guilty to causing $690 in damages to the rear windshield of a white Nissan Rogue. The incident occurred on September 9, 2024, on Rose Lane, following an altercation with the vehicle’s driver.
Tillett, a food vendor and mother of three, explained in court that the incident began when the vehicle splashed water on her and her children as they walked to school. She claimed the driver later reversed, striking her on the shoulder. When he refused to apologize, Tillett admitted she threw a water bottle in frustration, unintentionally shattering the windshield.
The driver, a security guard, reported the incident to police on September 10, stating that he heard a loud bang while driving and discovered the damage. When he confronted Tillett, she allegedly admitted to throwing the bottle and expressed her frustration over being splashed.
Tillett told the court she regretted her actions and was willing to pay for the damages. The court accepted her guilty plea and imposed a fine of $100 plus a $5 court fee. She has until January 31, 2025, to settle the payment or face one month of imprisonment.
