By Horace Palacio: The Belize Meteorological Service has forecasted generally fair weather conditions across the country for today, Sunday, December 22, 2024. Residents can expect sunny skies with cloudy spells throughout the day, transitioning to partly cloudy conditions at night. Any showers that occur are expected to be isolated.
The 24-hour forecast indicates stable conditions with temperatures reaching highs of 82°F (28°C) inland, 80°F (27°C) along the coast, and 70°F (21°C) in the hills. Evening lows will dip to 68°F (20°C) inland, 73°F (23°C) along the coast, and 60°F (16°C) in the hills.
Marine conditions remain calm, with north winds blowing at 10–15 knots. The sea state is classified as choppy, with wave heights ranging from 3 to 5 feet. Mariners are advised to remain cautious but can generally expect favorable conditions.
Looking ahead, the outlook for Monday and Monday night predicts isolated showers, with slightly increased activity over southern coastal areas. Temperatures are expected to remain consistent, providing a continuation of the pleasant seasonal weather.
Tidal patterns for the day include a low tide at 9:43 AM, a high tide at 3:39 PM, a second low tide at 10:13 PM, and another high tide at 3:40 AM tomorrow. The sun will set at 5:24 PM today, with sunrise at 6:19 AM on Monday. Additionally, the moon is set to rise at 12:06 AM on Monday, following a midday moonset at 11:43 AM today.
Forecaster Francisca Wellington of the Belize Met Service provided this update, emphasizing that the generally fair weather is expected to persist as Belize heads into the holiday week.
