By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize faced a tough match on Wednesday, falling 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-10) to Panama in the XV Under 19 Men’s Central American Volleyball Championship held at the Gimnasio FESAVOL in San Salvador, El Salvador. The loss places Belize in sixth position with a 0-3 record, just ahead of Honduras, which are currently 0-4.
Despite a strong start in the first set, Belize struggled to maintain their momentum. Daniel Musa led the Belizean team with seven points, while Albert Guy contributed six points, and both Francis Thomas and Hayden Requena added five points each. Panama’s captain, Víctor Pérez, was the top scorer of the match, registering 17 points.
Other matches on Wednesday included Guatemala defeating Honduras 3-0 (27-25, 25-16, 25-15). Additionally, Costa Rica triumphed over El Salvador 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, and 25-19).
Current standings see Costa Rica at the top with a 3-1 record and 17 points, followed by Panama, unbeaten with a 3-0 record and 13 points.
Despite the challenging loss, the Belizean team remains determined and focused on improving their performance in the upcoming matches against Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Honduras.
