By Aaron Humes: Police have determined that Coast Guard Seaman Apprentice Gianellie “Gianna” Vanegas suffered an accident on the George Price Highway after losing control of her motorcycle.
Vanegas, 25, died on Saturday, December 7.
On November 30 while off-duty, she was involved in a road traffic accident near the Westar gas station while riding her motorcycle. She was placed in a coma at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) in Belize City but never recovered.
Vanegas was the top female recruit in last year’s Coast Guard intake squad and impressed her bosses during her short time in the Guard.
