By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE), in partnership with the Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA), continues its focused efforts to raise awareness about the threat of the New World Screwworm.

Last week, the Ministry and BAHA hosted two days of intensive sensitization activities, aimed at educating the public on the prevention, control, and eradication of the screwworm.

The sessions also covered topics such as rotational grazing using the Voisin system, the benefits of electric fencing, and the implementation of silvo-pastoral systems to promote sustainable farming practices.

MAFSE and BAHA are committed to maintaining momentum in their educational campaign, emphasizing the significant risks the New World Screwworm poses to livestock, pets, and the agricultural sector.
