By Aaron Humes: Police are said to be holding three persons including a church pastor in Belmopan after rescuing a woman who was alleged to be held captive by them for eight days.

According to reports, the woman tried leaving her husband on October 15. She went to her parents’ home but they were not there. She then returned to her husband the following day.

Upon her return, her father-in-law reportedly tied her hands and feet and placed her under the stairs inside the house.

She was reportedly physically assaulted, sexually harassed by the father-in-law and starved, fed only chips that the children (including hers) would occasionally give her, and made to sit in her excrement for days until her rescue Wednesday night.

Police gave her time to take a bath and she was taken to the hospital for a medical assessment, while her alleged captors were themselves detained.
