By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Dangriga Cycling Association and the National Garifuna Council will host the Annual TV (Thomas Vincent) Ramos Cycling Classic 2024, a prestigious race that attracts cyclists from various categories and circuits, on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
Organizer Moses Lopez said he expects between 80 to 100 riders for the race.
The Men’s Elite race will begin at 10:00 am at K’s Bar in Dangriga and will cover a distance of 70 miles to the Georgetown Junction and back. Junior riders will pedal to Maya Center and back for 42 miles. Women cyclists, Weekend Warriors, and Gons Category C riders will cover the same distance. Weekend Warriors and Gons Category A and B cyclists will ride 56 miles from Dangriga to the Placencia Junction and back.
Participants will compete for over $6,000 in prizes, including $1,000 in station prizes, which will be awarded to the top finishers in the Elite, Junior, Women, and Weekend Warriors’ and Gons’ A, B, and C categories.
The winners of the six categories will be awarded trophies depicting the Drums of Our Fathers Monument.
As usual, the TV Ramos Cycling Classic 2024 is expected to be an exciting and challenging event for both cyclists and spectators.
