By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Weather experts are monitoring a tropical disturbance located approximately 105 miles (170 km) southwest of Grand Cayman and 315 miles (510 km) southeast of Cuba.

This system is expected to strengthen in the coming days.

Forecast models indicate a shift to a northwest trajectory Tuesday night, followed by a quicker movement northward to north-northeast on Wednesday and Thursday.

The system is expected to move across the northwestern Caribbean Sea through Tuesday night and continue into the eastern Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday and Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to approximately 35 mph (55 km/h), with stronger gusts reported.

The National Hurricane Center anticipates further strengthening, predicting the system could develop into a hurricane by Wednesday and continue to intensify on Thursday as it moves across the eastern Gulf.

Residents in affected areas should remain vigilant and prepare for potential impacts.
