By Horace Palacio: Belizeans can expect mostly sunny skies today, with a slight easterly airflow contributing to generally fair weather conditions. While a few showers may develop inland this afternoon, and the south may see some late-night or early-morning showers, isolated activity is the primary expectation. Marine conditions are favorable with easterly winds at 5-15 knots, a slight sea state, and waves at 1-3 feet. Temperatures will range from a high of 90°F on the coast to 96°F inland.
In the tropics, Hurricane Ernesto is currently located near Bermuda with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph. While it poses no immediate threat to Belize, residents are advised to stay updated on its progress.
Looking ahead to Sunday, expect increased cloudiness with showers and isolated thunderstorms developing over the south and coastal areas at first, then spreading to most areas by afternoon. Sunday night will see shower activity primarily over southern areas.
Today’s tides will see a high at 7:30 AM, a low at 3:10 PM, and another high at 9:18 PM. Tomorrow’s low tide will be at 1:59 AM. Sunrise is at 5:36 AM and sunset at 6:16 PM. The moon will rise at 4:55 PM today and set at 4:17 AM tomorrow.
