Alleged robber shot dead; two others captured

By Aaron Humes: One of three men was apparently shot dead and two others held as well as a taxi driver following a robbery attempt this morning on the Northside of Belize City.

The trio of alleged robbers hit a residence near on Freetown Road, next to Filipino Laundromat, but their targets fought back and one of them managed to shoot one of the robbers who subsequently died. He has been identified as Leroy Smith of Taylor’s Alley, Belize City.

The others escaped with a taxi driver but they were all apprehended by responding police near Victoria Street. All of the accused hail from Southside Belize City.

Police investigations continue.
