By Aaron Humes: Sierra Leonean media have reported the passing of Dr. Abdulai Conteh following an illness at the age of 79.
Dr. Conteh was a noted lawyer and jurist who served as Vice-President until 1992, when a military junta took over the country.
In Belize, he is best known as Chief Justice, being appointed in 2000 following a period of tumult and retiring with honors in 2010.
An official statement from Belize said, “Belize mourns the death of former Chief Justice Dr. Abdulai Conteh. He will forever be remembered as a fair and just steward of the Belize High Court, exhibiting integrity and a distinct legal acumen that protected and uplifted Belizeans from all walks of life. May he rest in peace.”
