By Horace Palacio: Belizeans can expect a mixed bag of weather today, as the National Meteorological Service predicts a blend of sunshine and showers across the country.
A moist northeasterly airflow is responsible for this diverse forecast, bringing sunny spells punctuated by cloudy intervals. While most regions can anticipate a predominantly dry day, residents in the south should be prepared for scattered showers and the occasional rumble of thunder, especially during the morning hours. These showers may intensify slightly as the day progresses and could even reach some coastal areas by nightfall.
Mariners are advised to exercise caution, as the seas will be choppy with waves reaching up to 5 feet. Winds will be blowing from the east-northeast at speeds of 10 to 20 knots.
Temperatures will vary across the country, with coastal areas enjoying highs around 89°F (32°C) and lows of 81°F (27°C). Inland dwellers can expect warmer conditions, reaching up to 94°F (34°C) during the day and cooling down to 74°F (23°C) at night. Those in the hills will experience a more moderate range of 68°F (20°C) to 81°F (27°C).
On a positive note, the tropics remain quiet, with no tropical cyclone development expected in the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of Mexico over the next 48 hours.
