By Horace Palacio: The National Meteorological Service of Belize has issued a forecast of predominantly fair weather conditions for the country today, with mostly sunny skies expected throughout the day. While isolated showers or thunderstorms are possible, they are anticipated to be few and far between.
Marine conditions are expected to be favorable, with winds blowing from the east-northeast at 5-10 knots, resulting in slight sea states with waves ranging from 1-3 feet. Coastal temperatures are predicted to reach a high of 89°F (32°C) and a low of 81°F (27°C). Inland areas can expect slightly warmer temperatures, reaching a high of 94°F (34°C) and a low of 74°F (23°C), while the hills will experience a high of 81°F (27°C) and a low of 68°F (20°C).
The Tropical Weather Outlook indicates that there is no expectation of tropical cyclone formation in the North Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea, or the Gulf of Mexico within the next 48 hours.
Looking ahead to Thursday and Thursday night, mainly fair weather conditions are expected to continue. While isolated showers or thunderstorms may occur on Thursday, an increase in shower activity is anticipated, particularly along the coast and more so in the south late Thursday night.
Residents and visitors are advised to enjoy the sunny weather and take precautions against the heat by staying hydrated and seeking shade during the hottest parts of the day. Boaters are reminded to exercise caution and be aware of changing weather conditions, particularly as the weekend approaches.
