Cop caught beating detainee needs counseling and discipline, says Opposition Leader

By Aaron Humes: The Police Department continues to remain silent on a video released over the weekend showing a police officer using his weapon to subdue one of three alleged gunmen eluding police.

The officer was heard demanding the suspect’s surrender with expletives, then threatening the person filming the encounter to stop, and appearing to dismiss the incident thereafter in a social media message.

Today, Leader of the Opposition Moses “Shyne” Barrow issued a condemnation of the “excessive use of force” in the incident, calling it a “red flag.”

But rather than coming down hard on the officer in question, Barrow said a helping hand should be issued: “He needs counseling, he needs help, more importantly, he needs discipline because if this type of behavior is countenanced by the police top brass, then we are in trouble as a nation.”

He further called on the Commissioner of Police to take immediate action as he has in the past against officers similarly caught out on camera.
