UEFA Euro 2024: France eliminate Belgium 1-0, advance to Quarterfinals

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: In the battle between the second-seeded France and third-seeded Belgium, according to the FIFA World Ranking, France prevailed with a late own goal and advanced to the UEFA European Championship (EURO2024) Quarterfinals on a 1-0 win.

In a rather even match on Monday at the Düsseldorf Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany, Jan Vertonghen deflected a shot by Randal Kolo Muani in the 85^th minute for France to claim the 1-0 victory and the ticket to the next round.

On Friday, July 5, France will play the winner of Portugal-Slovenia, Monday’s other game slated for 1:00 pm.

In other Quarterfinal matches, Spain will play Germany on Friday, July 5 while England will tackle Switzerland on Saturday, July 6.

The Round of 16 closes on Tuesday, July 2, when Romania face Netherlands at 10:00 am and Austria take on Türkiye at 1:00 pm.
