Threvane Thomas charged with aggravated assault for shooting attack at Commissioner of Police’s residence

By Aaron Humes: 21-year-old Threvane Thomas of Camalote, Cayo District, appeared in court in Belmopan this morning, Friday, charged with aggravated assault on the residence of Commissioner of Police Chester Williams.

Thomas was remanded due to being charged with a firearm-related offense. On Wednesday night, he is accused of driving up to the residence in which Williams’ son was present, the Commissioner being in transit on a flight to New York City, and opening fire with a .45 caliber prohibited firearm, for which he was also charged.

According to Minister of Home Affairs, Kareem Musa, police already have a line on whom Thomas was acting in concert with and continue to search for those persons, and he condemned the attack out of hand.

The Commissioner was alerted by his son and made the call to Belmopan Police who were able to respond quickly and recover key evidence leading to the arrest of Thomas.
