Moist and unstable conditions to bring scattered showers to Belize

By Horace Palacio: The Belize National Meteorological Service has issued a weather forecast for today, Tuesday, June 11, 2024, predicting moist and unstable conditions across the country.

Skies are expected to be sunny with cloudy spells throughout the day, becoming cloudy at times during the night. Residents, particularly those in central and northern areas, can anticipate a few showers and thunderstorms this morning, primarily inland and over the Maya Mountains this afternoon. Showers are expected to shift towards the south and coast tonight.

Marine conditions are forecast to be choppy, with light and variable winds becoming east-southeasterly at 5-15 knots. Waves are expected to reach 3-5 feet. Temperatures along the coast will range from 83°F (28°C) to 90°F (32°C), while inland temperatures will reach a high of 100°F (38°C) and a low of 75°F (24°C). In the hills, temperatures will vary between 68°F (20°C) and 83°F (28°C).

Looking ahead to Wednesday and Wednesday night, the Meteorological Service predicts cloudy skies at times, with isolated showers or thunderstorms on Wednesday, particularly over inland areas and the Maya Mountains in the afternoon. A few showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect mainly the south and coast on Wednesday night.

Today, low tides will occur at 6:52 AM and 8:40 PM, while high tide will be at 12:56 PM. Sunrise was at 5:17 AM and sunset will be at 6:27 PM. The moon will rise at 9:55 AM and set at 10:59 PM.

The Belize National Meteorological Service will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as necessary. Residents and visitors are advised to stay informed about the latest forecasts and take appropriate precautions in light of the expected showers and thunderstorms.
