By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Sunday, officials in Mexico welcomed back their embassy officials that had been in Ecuador.
The Mexican Government has since received solidarity messages from 18 Latin American Governments including Belize.
The Governments of 10 European Nations, the United States and Canadas have also expressed solidarity with Mexico following Friday night’s raid on its Embassy in Ecuador.
World leaders have condemned Ecuador’s armed raid and called out the Government of Ecuador for violating international law.
Ecuadoran authorities raided to embassy and arrested former Vice President Jorge Glas who had for months taken refuge there, after Mexican officials offered him formal asylum protection.
Ecuador argued it was unlawful to grant asylum to Glas, who had been convicted twice on graft charges.
