By Aaron Humes: Police continue to narrow down a motive in the Good Friday afternoon murder of Clay Uter Monsanto, 52, in the Lake Independence area.

Monsanto’s murder is a high-profile apparent breach of the Southside state of emergency enacted just a week ago, but according to Officer Commanding Eastern Division ACP Hilberto Romero, ‘We are following up on several leads and several motives but we have not narrowed down exactly what was the cause for this murder.”

He added of Monsanto, “Yes, we have dealt with him in the past and the information we have is this person was brought there by another male person on a motorcycle, after the shooting they both fled from the area.”

ACP Romero further confirmed, “We are looking at footage along with other information we gathered from interviews and we’re following up on those.”

Monsanto lost two children to gun violence as well as various friends and associates before and after his leaving Belize for the United States.
