By Aaron Humes: As ‘amazing’ as a fourth-place finish is in the Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic, Carlton Robinson says he would have preferred the win.

Robinson says he was ‘outnumbered’ by the professionals from the United States, Guatemala, and Honduras, and try though he might to match their every attack, it was clear they would not take a sprinter to the tape.

Robinson will receive the special prize of a house lot of his choice from the Ministry of Natural Resources among others.

Meanwhile, the top three finishers were full of praise for the country and their fellow competitors, with third-place Abner Maxwell admitting that he was occasionally distracted by the sights along the route so that he would forget he was racing.

Winner Luis Lopez, speaking in Spanish, said he made his move when he noticed that his competitors were suffering as much as he had. While emphasizing that he came to give it his allgor the win, the regional champion expressed respect for those who competed and completed the 142-mile course, among the longest racing anywhere.
