By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Top seeded Gwen Lizarraga High School beat second seeded Wesley College 2-0 in the first leg of the Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) Girls Football Competition Finals on Wednesday at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City.

Jonel Blease scored in the 42’ and Shakeisha Jones hit in the 60’ to give Gwen Liz the 2-0 victory going into the second leg on Saturday.

The match finished just as it had in the first round, with 2-nil score in favor of Gwen Liz.

Earlier, the Gwen Liz boys also won 2-0 over Wesley in the first final. They will also meet on Saturday to determine the Central champions.

In the Third Place first leg games on Wednesday, St Catherine Academy took the lead with a 3-1 win over Pallotti High School in the Girls Competition. Sadie Vernon High School also took a 3-1 over St John’s College in the Boys Competition.

The return matches in both the Third Place games and the Finals will be played on Saturday
