Ministry of Agriculture prepares National Agriculture and Trade Show set for April 26-28

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE) is already preparing for the  52^nd  National Agriculture and Trade Show which will be held from Friday to Sunday, April 26-28 at the National Agriculture and Trade Show Grounds in Belmopan.

The National Agric Show is organized yearly by the National Agriculture and Trade Show (NATS) Organizing Committee.

The 52^nd National Agriculture and Trade Show will be held under the theme “Integrating Sustainable Food Systems: Mitigating Climate Change, Strengthening Agricultural Resilience” which was coined by 14-year-old Belize Adventist College student Noellie Cantun who won the NATS 2024 theme competition, according to MAFSE.

The previous three fairs, from the 49^th to 51^st, were held under the three-year theme “Innovations in Technology: Driving a Climate Resilient and Competitive Agriculture and Food Sector”.

According to NATS, 34,270 attended the 51^st National Agric Show in April 2023. That’s 5,133 more than the 29,137 who attended in 2022. 13,500 visited ‘Agric’ on Saturday, April 29, and 20,770 on Sunday, April 30.

In 2023, the National Agriculture and Trade Show recognized the Farmers of the Year, namely Women’s Farmer Esmeralda Stanley, Men’s Farmer Adrian Bartley, and Junior Farmer Axel Perez.
