By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Premier League of Belize club Progresso won their preseason friendly 4-2 over Mi Gente of Guinea Grass on Sunday, January 7, at the Louisiana Football Field. Progresso are preparing for the Premier League of Belize (PLB) 2023-24 Closing Season that kicks off on January 13.

Newly acquired Raheem Eagan scored a hat trick to signal his return to the club. Alwin Zelaya netted the other goal.

Aiken Aguilar and Miguel Yco scored for Mi Gente who play in the Orange Walk Football Association’s (OWFA) 1st Division Championship.

Progresso finished in third place in the PLB 2023-24 Opening Season behind Verdes and Port Layola falling to the Belize City side in the semifinals.

Progresso kick off the PLB 2023-24 Closing Season against Benque Viejo United at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk on Saturday, January 13.
