By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The return leg of the Premier League of Belize 2023-24 Opening Season Finals between Port Layola and Altitude will be played on Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24.
Port Layola General Manager Leaton St Claire said the match will play at 4:00 pm at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex in Belize City.
Port considered playing the game on Saturday but in the end the match remained as scheduled for Sunday.
Port Layola earned a 0-0 draw in Independence last Saturday despite missing top goalscorer Gilroy ‘Bredda’ Thurton, out with a fractured ankle, and captain Ian Gaynair, out with a red card.
Altitude weren’t 100 percent either as they lost captain Dellon ‘Dee Breezy’ Torres to a knee injury in the semifinals.
While Thurton and Torres will have to watch from the sideline, Gaynair will suit up for the Christmas Eve match having served his one-game suspension.
