By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in Orange Walk have arrested a man from San Antonio Village following a violent domestic incident in which he allegedly punched his 65-year-old wife in the face, leaving her injured and bleeding.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Monday, November 10. The woman was at home when her husband arrived allegedly under the influence of alcohol or drugs and demanded money from her.
When the 65-year-old victim refused, her husband became enraged and began punching her, causing her to bleed and experience pain.
The victim later visited the police station, where her statement was recorded, and she was issued a medico-legal form. A medical officer subsequently certified her injuries as wounding.
Police have since arrested the man and are pursuing charges. Authorities note that the incident highlights the ongoing issue of domestic violence against women in rural communities.
