6 Belizeans attend training at World Cycling Center in Trinidad and Tobago

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Six Belizeans, including four cyclists and two Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB) officials, are on their way to Trinidad and Tobago where they will undergo cycling training which runs from  July 1-8 at the World Cycling Center in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.

According to the Cycling Federation of Belize, Cyclists Jaylen Briceño and Gabrielle Gabourel will receive training for road cycling while Mya Bennett and Goran Gabourel for track racing.

Briceño won the Junior National Time Trial and Road Championships over the last two weekends. Goran Gabourel finished in third place both races at the Under 23 category, Bennett is the Women’s Junior Time Trial and Road Champion, and Gabrielle Gabourel is the 2023 Under 23 National Time Trial and Road Champion.

Sheena Castillo will participate in a level 2 coaches training course while Ronald Sutherland will participate in a mechanic training. Castillo and Sutherland were top-tier cyclists years ago.

The CFB said the training started on July 1 but the contingent couldn’t travel before because of the Cycling Road Championships which were held on Sunday.
