By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The University of Belize (UB) student-athletes delivered outstanding performances winning 39 medals, including 12 gold, at the 2025 Association of Tertiary Level Institutions of Belize (ATLIB) national athletics championships, held at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City on Saturday, February 1.
Saint John’s College Junior College didn’t win as many, earning only 15, but did give UB a tough challenge winning nine gold medals.
Galen University won eight medals, including three gold. Independence Junior College collected nine medals, including one gold. San Pedro Junior College (SPJC) claimed one bronze medal.
Several junior colleges didn’t compete this time around.
Medal Counts by School at 2025 ATLIB National Athletics Championships
Here are the medal counts for each school, ranked by the number of gold, silver, and bronze medals won.
University of Belize (UB): 37 medals
- Gold Medals: 12
- Track: Gary Neal (100m Sprint, 400m Race, 800m Race), Donovan Grinage (200m Race), Jonathan Chiquin (1500m Race), Cayden Flowers (5K Race), Elisha Rash (1500m Race, 3K Race).

- Silver Medals: 17
