By Horace Palacio: The Association of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technicians has launched a sweeping enforcement initiative to uphold licensing compliance within the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) industry in Belize.

The move comes after reports of unlicensed technicians performing RAC-related work, which the association says is a direct violation of national regulations and industry standards.

Effective immediately, all technicians must hold a valid license issued by the Association of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technicians to legally operate. Any individual found working without proper certification will face a mandatory $5,000 fine, along with possible legal consequences.

Compliance efforts will include surprise inspections and investigations across all districts, with enforcement officers stationed from Belize City to Punta Gorda.

“This is a final reminder. Non-compliance will not be tolerated,” said association president A. Alexander Cass. “We are taking every legal step necessary to ensure that only qualified professionals are allowed to work in this industry.”

Consumers are urged to verify the credentials of any technician they hire and report unlicensed operations to the compliance team.
