By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize (PLB) Pre‑Season Quadrangular returns to Belmopan on George Price Day, Thursday, January 15, with an added layer of excitement: $4,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in this year’s third edition of the tournament.
The one‑day event, organized by Marvin Ottley with the assistance of Kursha Pollard and Jarret Davis, kicks off at 4:00 pm at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium and features a competitive four‑team field:
- Verdes FC
- Napoles FC Belmopan
- Belmopan FC
- Police United (Wingz FC) – Belmopan 1st Division invitee
The tournament continues a growing tradition.
In 2024, Verdes defeated Benque Viejo United 2–1 in the final of the pre‑season tournament, dubbed Western Championship, at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen.
In 2025, Verdes lifted the title again in the Belmopan Championship, competing against Port Layola, Napoles, and Club Atlético—two of which were Belmopan 1st Division sides at the time. Napoles has since moved up.

- 2nd Place: $1,000
- 3rd Place: $500
Tournament Format & Match Schedule
A draw will be held prior to kickoff to determine the matchups.
- Game 1: 1 vs 4 – 4:00 p.m.
- Game 2: 2 vs 3 – 5:30 p.m.
- Game 3: Loser Game 1 vs Loser Game 2 – Third Place Match at 7:30 p.m.
- Game 4: Winner Game 1 vs Winner Game 2 – Championship Match at 9:00 p.m.
