By Zoila Palma: Thirty-four refrigeration and air-conditioning (RAC) technicians from across Belize are participating in a hands-on training focused on improving efficiency, standards and technical practices in Belize’s cooling sector. The training is being held at Roaring River Resort in Roaring Creek.
The training comes as the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry continues to evolve with the introduction of newer technologies, more efficient equipment, alternative refrigerants and energy-efficiency standards.
The Department of the Environment emphasized that proper installation, servicing and maintenance are critical to ensuring that cooling systems operate efficiently.
Participants are receiving practical instruction on identifying energy-efficient equipment, properly sizing and commissioning systems, diagnosing faults and working with newer technologies. Hands-on exercises are also allowing technicians to examine how common system faults can affect energy performance and overall efficiency.
The training is being led by the National Ozone Unit in collaboration with ARACT, with support from partners in energy efficiency and standards.
