By Rubén Morales Iglesias: St John’s College (SJC) won the bronze medal by defeating Honduras’ La Estancia 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-14) on Monday at the 21st Under-18 CODICADER Games held at the FESAVOL Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador.
SJC dominated their final game of the regional tournament, mirroring the bronze medal success achieved by Saint Catherine Academy (SCA) in the girls’ competition earlier in the day.
On Sunday, SJC lost a highly competitive semifinal match to Panama’s Colegio Agustiniano Chitre 3-2 (31-29, 27-29, 26-28, 25-17, 15-10).
Costa Rica’s Liceo Atenas claimed the boys’ gold medal by defeating Colegio Agustiniano Chitre 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 17-25, 20-25) in the final held earlier on Monday. The girls’ gold medal was won by Guatemala’s Colegio de Señoritas El Sagrado Corazón, who defeated Nicaragua’s Colegio Nuestra Señora del Rosario 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-18) in their final.
Both SJC and SCA advanced to the semifinals after finishing group play with a 2-1 record.
