By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Gwen Lizarraga High School bounced back after their initial loss on Sunday, defeating Costa Rica’s Centro Educativo Naranjo Bilingüe 78-60 at the Gimnasio Nacional José Adolfo Pineda in San Salvador, El Salvador, on Monday morning.
Gwen Liz showed resilience after dropping their first Group A game 98-83 to Panama’s Gaston Faraudo P. on Sunday and are now 1-1. For the Costa Rican team, Monday’s game marked their second loss of the competition, having fallen 69-64 to Nicaragua’s Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús on Sunday.
In Group B, which consists of only three teams, Honduras’ Merino S. Educational Center beat Guatemala’s CETACH 75-56. El Salvador’s ITEXSAL did not see action.
In the Girls’ Competition, King’s College rested on Monday and will play against El Salvador’s ITEXSAL on Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the three-team Group B. King’s lost their opening game on Sunday 75-36 to Honduras’ Great Commission School.
Gwen Liz will play their final group game against Nicaragua’s Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús on Tuesday at 11:00 am. The top two teams qualify for the semifinals while the other teams play for ranking from fifth to seventh place.
The girls play the same format.
