2025 Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic: Lead group swells to 13 Riders as race leaves San Ignacio

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The 2025 Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic has taken another dramatic turn as the early breakaway riders, Alfredo Bueno and Pablo Abreo, have been reeled in. Now, a 13-man strong group is leading on the way back to Belize City after circling San Ignacio and Santa Elena, setting up a fierce battle as the race heads into its final stretch.

Belizean stars Oscar Quiroz, Derrick Chavarria, Carlton Robinson, and Cory Williams are in the mix, holding their own against nine international competitors. With the peloton behind them still determined to chase, the leaders are carefully managing their energy, knowing that the return to Belize City will be decisive.

As the miles tick down, strategy and endurance will play an increasingly critical role. Will the lead group hold their advantage, or will the peloton mount a late charge to shake things up again? The next phase of the race promises intense competition all the way to the finish.
