2025 CONCACAF U17 Women’s Qualifiers: Belize to play for 3rd place in Group B Friday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize encountered a formidable opponent in Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, in the 2025 CONCACAF U17 Women’s Qualifiers, resulting in a 2-0 defeat. This marks Belize’s second loss in the tournament, effectively ending their chances of advancing to the next round. Only the group winners and the two best second-place teams from the six groups qualify for Round 2.

Belize will now face the US Virgin Islands, who are also 0-2, in a match for third place in Group B on Friday. Both teams will be looking to secure their first win of the tournament and finish on a positive note.

Trinidad and Tobago lead the group with six points, edging out Honduras by goal difference. Their encounter on Friday will determine the group winners. Honduras blanked the US Virgin Islands 4-0 on Wednesday.

Belize are determined to end their campaign on a positive note.

Belize’s schedule for the qualifiers is as follows:

• Monday, January 27, 2025: Belize 0-2 Honduras @ 5:00 pm (3:00 pm Belize)
• Wednesday, January 29, 2025: Belize 0-2 Trinidad and Tobago @ 8:00 pm (6:00 pm Belize)
• Friday, January 31, 2025: Belize vs. US Virgin Islands @ 5:00 pm (3:00 pm Belize)
