By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 19-year-old Belize City resident has been sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to possession of utensils for smoking cocaine, marking her second conviction for a similar offence.
Kelly Emny Soriano, an unemployed resident of East Canal, appeared unrepresented before Senior Magistrate Mannon Dennison in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where she admitted to the charge.
According to police, Soriano was found on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in possession of a pipe measuring approximately 2 1/3 inches in length, which was identified as an instrument used for smoking crack cocaine.
Following her guilty plea, Senior Magistrate Dennison imposed an immediate custodial sentence of six months.
The court heard that Soriano had a prior conviction in 2024 for possession of a crack pipe, for which she received a suspended sentence. However, her repeat offence resulted in a harsher penalty.
Soriano was remanded to the Belize Central Prison to begin serving her sentence.
