18 iPhones, other electronics stolen at Plett’s Electronics in Orange Walk: thieves tunneled through wall

By Aaron Humes: A daring burglary at Plett’s Electronics in Orange Walk early Saturday morning resulted in the theft of approximately $45,000 in cash and high-end electronic devices, including 18 iPhones.

According to police reports, officers received alerts about a burglary in progress around 2:54 a.m. at the electronics store located at the corner of Cinderella Street and Queen Victoria Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a small hole broken through the cement wall, granting the suspects access to the store’s warehouse, which is located adjacent to the Adventist Church.

“Three persons entered that establishment…and stole several electronic items as well as some cash before making good their escape. The investigators have some footage in their possession, and this has led them to the detention of an individual; however, the investigation is still ongoing,” stated ASP Stacy Smith, Police Staff Officer.

The thieves managed to steal a total of 21 phones and some cash to a reported total value of $45,000. The police investigation continues.
