By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 27-year-old call center agent has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison following serious allegations involving the sexual assault of a 12-year-old minor.
Jassiem Darwin Bush (also identified as Jassiem Darwin Bent), a resident of Tigris Street in Belize City, appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Friday. He was formally read three criminal charges: rape of a child, attempted rape, and harm.
Due to the severe nature of the offenses, no plea was taken during the arraignment. The Senior Magistrate ordered Bush remanded into custody until his next scheduled court appearance on August 24, 2026.
The charges stem from an official report made to the Crime Investigation Branch Office on Monday, May 25, 2026, by the 12-year-old primary school student, accompanied by her mother.
According to police reports, the minor and two other underage friends had reportedly been invited into the Lion King Club on King Street on the evening of Sunday, May 24 by two men. It is alleged that while at the establishment, the minors were given alcohol and when the 12-year-old went to the bathroom, Bush allegedly followed her into the restroom and raped her.
A subsequent incident allegedly occurred later that night at the defendant’s residence on Tigris Street, where the minor successfully resisted a further assault by biting Bush twice on his hand in order to escape.
Following the report, police personnel processed the relevant locations, and a medical examination was conducted at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) with the assistance of a social worker. Bush was subsequently detained, arrested, and charged on May 28, 2026. Investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
