By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize District captured the U17 High Performance Championship crown in decisive fashion on Saturday afternoon, prevailing 3–1 over the U15 National Boys Team at the FFB Stadium.
The Belize District side struck first in the 32nd minute with a composed finish by Edmond Sanker, capitalizing on early dominance. But the young U15 squad regrouped and leveled the match in the 56th minute through Enrique Tamai, whose sharp goal brought the contest to life and ignited hopes of an upset.
Belize District’s experience soon took over. In the 63rd minute, Jacob Joseph confidently converted a penalty kick to restore the lead, and in the closing moments of the second half, Rodrigo Flores sealed the win with a well-placed strike in the 79th minute, securing the 3–1 result and the championship.

Earlier in the day, the U17 third place match saw Cayo District surge past Stann Creek with a dynamic 6–3 victory, showcasing attacking flair and earning a podium finish in the tightly contested division.
Cayo FC’s goals came from Marlon Meza (10’, 65’, 86’), Jason Arzu (15’), Marquis Bahadur (47’, penalty), and a Stann Creek own goal by Nevaughn Leslie (63’).
Stann Creek replied with a brace from Tyronell Castillo (3’, 52’, penalty) and a late strike by Jaren Fernandez (67’).
